Learn the Magic of the Menstrual Cycle and how to Honour and Celebrate Menarche as a Rite of Passage
Becoming A Woman
What is Becoming A Woman?
Together, we will demystify menarche, and honour the passage into womanhood. In the spirit of the healed feminine, mothers and daughters will deepen their understanding of menarche in a seasonal, age appropriate and soul nourishing space.
This Workshop Will Help You:
Why the menstrual cycle?
Becoming A Woman is a guided workshop for mothers, daughters, and caregivers that introduces the menstrual cycle as a meaningful initiation into womanhood. It offers an overview of the cycle as a source of wisdom, connecting personal experience with the wider rhythms of nature and the shared experience of women. The process begins with a dedicated session for mothers, known as The Reclaiming, where they revisit and reshape their own menarche experience, creating a more supportive foundation for the next generation.
From there, mothers and daughters come together in circle for a four-hour, interactive and experiential journey of learning, remembering, and reconnecting with the language of cycles. Through this shared space, participants explore how the body moves in harmony with nature, building trust, understanding, and connection. Beginning this journey at menarche with awareness and support can profoundly shape how girls relate to their bodies over a lifetime, empowering both mothers and daughters to engage with the menstrual cycle as a source of strength, renewal, and self-trust.
“At menarche a young woman enters her power, throughout her menstruating years she practices her power, and at menopause she becomes her power.”
Native American Saying
“I felt very blessed to be able to be a part of such an experience with my daughter, an experience all young women should be given the opportunity to be part of.”
SueMother
“It reinforced my deep reverence and appreciation for my womanhood and encouraged me to continue the dialogue about the importance of this very significant right of passage.”
Lara
Workshop Structure
Before the Becoming a Woman gathering, mothers are invited into a special evening called Reclaiming — a circle created especially for women to reflect on their own experience of menarche and womanhood. In this nourishing and supportive gathering, mothers explore the stories they received about menstruation, the impact of their first blood, and the wisdom they have gathered through their own cycles over the years. Through circle sharing, guided processes, storytelling and drum journeying, women are offered an opportunity for healing, insight and reclamation, so they can stand beside their daughters with greater presence, wisdom and empowerment.
- 2. Welcome & Opening the Circle
- 3. Teaching the Wisdom of the Cycles
- 4. Mothers' Wisdom & Storytelling
- 5. Drum Journey to Meet the Inner Guide
The gathering begins by creating a safe and sacred circle for the girls and their mothers. Together we light the Mother Candle, set intentions, acknowledge the land, and gently arrive into the space through grounding and connection. Each participant is welcomed and invited to be fully present as we begin this important rite of passage journey together.
Through interactive teaching, storytelling, visual wheel teachings and shared discussion, the girls are introduced to the wisdom of the menstrual cycle and its connection to the cycles of nature, the moon, the seasons and the phases of a woman’s life. Together we explore the gifts, energies and “superpowers” of each phase of the cycle, helping the girls understand menstruation not as something shameful or confusing, but as a source of wisdom, power and self-knowledge.
In a beautiful sharing circle, mothers are invited to speak about their own experiences of menstruation and what they have learned through their lives as women. The girls hear stories, wisdom, honesty and reflections from the women around them, helping to demystify menstruation and restore it as a natural and honoured part of life. A special story of the Moon Goddess is also shared, offering a healed and empowering vision of menarche and becoming.
The gathering concludes with a guided shamanic drum journey where the girls are invited to journey inward and meet their Inner Guide —a source of wisdom to support them on their Becoming a Woman journey. Through the rhythm of the drum, imagination and inner vision, the girls are encouraged to connect with their intuition, creativity and inner knowing. Afterwards there is time for drawing, reflection and sharing about their experience.

My name is Hope Ryan. I am many things, as most Women are. Cyclic and expansive in my capacity to hold growth and change.
I am a mother to three, a sister to many. An educator, a creative and one who is deeply nourished, connected and committed to the natural world and her cyclic wisdom.
I am a teacher and a student of the blood mysteries, having begun this conscious exploration into womb wisdom in 2005.
It is my privilege and responsibility to share this wisdom. I hope you will join me in Circle, Moonsong or the Becoming a Woman workshop or training as we deepen connection to our selves, to each other and to this sacred path we walk.

I am Anne — a woman who has lived deeply, held many roles, and walked through change with her eyes open.
I grew up in Arnhem Land and the Northern Territory, and have moved between business, art, motherhood, and navigating relationship within community, family, and work. My work is shaped by real life — by navigating complexity, standing in truth, and learning to hold steady through change.
I am a trained Shamanic Womancraft practitioner and certified Beautiful You life and business coach. I work with women at thresholds — where something is no longer working, and something new is asking to emerge.
When we work together, I hold a clear, grounded space where things can be seen as they are. Rites of passage, cycles, and ancestral patterns are recognised. We slow down, name what matters, and cut through what is no longer true. I bring directness, deep listening, and practical support. You leave with clarity, awareness, and the capacity to trust your own knowing and choose what comes next.
I support women to bring that knowing into all aspects of life — how they live, work, and show up in the world.
This is not about fixing. It is about remembering, choosing, and becoming all of who you already are.
