Moonsong

Attune your body to the wisdom of the cycles, the spiritual practice of menstruation and your rites of passage.

What is Moonsong?

Moonsong is a one-day workshop in which to reclaim FEMININE WISDOM, by normalising and celebrating our cycling bodies, our RITES OF PASSAGE and our experience of being born with a womb.

This Workshop Will Help You:

  • Explore the wisdom of Nature’s cycles and your life seasons
  • Discover how the lunar cycle and the Earth’s seasons influence you
  • Remember the spiritual practice of Menstruation and your whole cycle
  • Understand the transformative power of Menarche and all your rites of passage

Why the menstrual cycle?

Our menstrual cycle is a normal, healthy and healthful aspect of being a woman. It is a powerful process which shows us how to live authentically and uniquely as our selves. Our menstrual cycle – though culturally derided – is a great source of energy, regeneration and renewal.

Getting to know your cycle is getting to know yourself! During your reproductive years you are your menstrual cycle, and you see this though your moods, your energy levels and your mucus.

Our rites of passage – birth, menarche, giving birth (to children, art, careers, projects and ourselves), and menopause – are also natural, healthy and powerful initiatory processes which deepen our relationship to ourselves, our communities and the Earth.

Connecting with your menstrual cycle and your rites of passage is part of the re-wilding of the feminine that is so needed now.

“At menarche a young woman enters her power, throughout her menstruating years she practices her power, and at menopause she becomes her power.”

Native American Saying

“Through this Moonsong workshop, I have now learned to love my bleeding time as an opportunity to give back to Mother Earth and embrace the desire to retreat and reflect.”

Myshell

“Had such a great day connecting and understanding. Thank you for the knowledge and love that you shared.”

Kirsten

“I can't believe that it took me until I was 41 to grow curious of my own cycle..”

Participant

“While I had an idea about what Moonsong was about, I did not expect to be so deeply touched by the openhearted tender acceptance of the beautiful women I sat in circle with.”

Workshop Structure

Each Moonsong workshop begins with the creation of a safe container to hold us all during the day, our sacred circle.  In the magic and safety of circle we pass the talking bowl, to talk, to listen, to share and to reflect.

In this space we open the floor to whatever wants to be expressed and we also explore feminine wisdom, what it is and how and why so much of it has been lost.

The map, the way home, is within us. We draw the wheel, delineating the correspondence between the major influential cycles of the earth seasons, the lunar phases, the stages of the menstrual cycle and our own life seasons.

The transitions between the seasons of our lives, the rites of passage of birth, menarche, motherhood, menopause, retirement and death are reframed as initiatory processes offering us deep opportunity for personal and collective growth and understanding.

We explore each of these aspects of the wheel, charting the changing energies, actions, feelings, and ways that are associated with each aspect – always mindful that this is the just the map, your own body is the territory.

What emerges is the basic cyclical map of birth, growth, full bloom, harvest, decay, death and rebirth – a cycle we can live by, flow with and become present to in our own lives.

Bringing consciousness to these ever present patterns engages us in the creative process of life,  and positions us as active participants in the web of life.

Seeing our own patterns, and stories is helped by paired share discussions, personal mapping and inner guidance through a drum journey.

Emphasis is also given to our menstrual cycle – understanding the fundamentals of fertility, of the monthly changes in our bodies, and the ways we can anchor ourselves in the spiritual practices of menstruation and menopause.

Jane Hardwicke Collings

Founder of the School of Shamanic Womancraft • Creator of Moonsong, Shamanic Dimensions of Pregnancy and Autumn Woman Harvest queen workshops • co-creator of Winter Woman, Bone Wisdom Workshop • Grandmother

My interest in bringing and offering this information is to help how I can in healing the wounded feminine and the wounded masculine of our patriarchal culture.

My mission is to help women reclaim feminine knowledge and wisdom, to help heal birth, menarche, menstruation, menopause and death, for all my relations.

I represent three lineages:

Home birth Midwifery –  ancient wise woman practices passed down the generations that I learned from Maggie Lecky Thompson (Australia).

EarthSong (Boulder, Colorado, USA) Shamanic Teachings and Practices – that I learned from James Harvey (AKA BlackBear) and Cedar Barstow.

Shamanic Midwifery – the teachings and insights of the Late Jeannine Parvati Baker (USA).

Jane was a Registered Practising Homebirth Midwife for 32 years (1984–2016) in the NSW Health System, Australia.

Ishwari Catherine Shead

SSW teacher, Workshop Teacher, Earth Woman Mentor, NonLinear Movement and Wild Woman Facilitator, Astrologer, Transformational Coaching.

I am a Mother, Grandmother and a lover of the ocean and wild nature.

I facilitate rites of passage, circles, and workshops for women — weaving together archetype work, embodiment, somatic and shamanic practices into a living, breathing container for transformation. I also offer Soul Journeying with the Divine Feminine through astrology using the language of archetypes to illuminate your unique path.

My work is grounded in the wild, the sacred, and the cyclical — honouring the natural rhythms of a woman’s life and the deep wisdom that lives there. Whether you are in a season of transition, awakening, or simply longing to come home to yourself, this work meets you where you are.

I work with groups and privately in 1:1 sessions.

At the heart of my work is a passionate belief that every woman deserves to know her ecstatic birthright — and to live her fullest, most radiant potential.
